We chose this cruise based on the fact we had time on land as my oldest daughter gets motion sickness often and this was my families first cruise. (I cruised on this ship in 2015.) It turned out to be an amazing cruise and lots of fun for everyone.
Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly and so did going through customs in Key West. Going through customs in Key west was simply done on the ship and only took minutes.
Dining was wonderful. We have 4 celiac and 2 of us have an intolerance to dairy and the food was still amazing. Both the main dining room and buffet were wonderful. We were stuck with a dining time of 8:30 because of the large group we had (13 total) but the night we needed to eat earlier we just went to the windjammer. The buffet was great. At breakfast and lunch there was a separate gluten free corner completely separate from the main buffet line so I didn't have to worry about cross contamination. There were tables close by but we took our food into the main dining area to eat with our group. At dinner time this area was closed but a chef took us around the buffet and told us what was safe and if we wanted something he cooked it for us matching our dietary needs.
Our cabin was very clean and definitely big enough for my daughters and myself. Even with all three of us getting ready for dinner at the same time. The balcony was a nice escape and fun to sit on in the mornings while pulling into port. We were forward and it was a perfect location because we were close to the buffet and kid activity area.
We love Key West and travel there at least once a year. Therefore we didn't find it necessary to book a tour or excursion. Understand this time of year is HOT! We spent a few hours off the ship hitting our favorite spots and then everyone was ready to head back in search of water and air conditioning.
