From the moment we arrived in Basel until we were driven to the airport outside Amsterdam, we had no worries! This being our first cruise, and first trip to Europe, I spent months worrying before we left. Everything was taken care of. The attendants were welcoming, knowledgeable and always available.

Elizabeth, our Program Director, gave us personal attention throughout. Her nightly talks were informative with what to expect, what to look for, and the historical significance of the off shore excursion we were going to take. I found the talk on water management in Holland to be a real learning experience. It enhanced the experience beyond measure. We were kept well informed of the offerings by the "Viking Daily"... A paper left on the bed each evening when we returned from dinner. Save these! They help you remember when you get home.

The off shore excursions were highlighted by always having a well informed and FUN guide. They kept our interest, had great stories to tell, and helped us feel as if we were traveling with a friend, who happened to know the area. We booked our excursions in advance. Researched all the options online. We were never disappointed with the choices we made. The only extra we added was a new offering in Kinderdijk to travel to the oldest windmill via barge, instead of the walking tour. By this time, we had done enough walking!

Veranda Stateroom

Enough room for all our things. Bed was comfortable. Nice view from the veranda. Took us 3 nights to figure out how to turn off the bright light in the bathroom. There is a lower one that is always on, but didn't realize the other could be turned off.

Port Reviews

Basel

Only disappoint was we had to decide between hiking and the coo coo clock demo.
