Overall our experience was wonderful on Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas:

San Juan: we flew in 2 days early to explore San Juan. We stayed at the Sheraton old San Juan and it was the perfect location. Walking distance to everything. Great food right of the street. Make sure to have the Mofango. Use uber instead of a taxi- it’s a 1/3 of the cost. The restaurant at the hotel was delicious and we ate breakfast there both mornings. If you eat ala carte it’s very affordable. They have a good happy hour at the end of the day too.

Boarding: I felt like the luggage drop off area was sheer chaos with little direction. All of the tags are color coated but it’s hard to tell which color you’re supposed to be. If they switched to the deck number I think that would help. We were in a suite so once we got inside check-in we were checked in and on the ship in less than 10 minutes. The general boarding lines seemed to be moving very quickly as well.
