If you like cocktail parties you will like a river cruise as there are endless opportunities to talk about yourself! Every meal starts with "Where are you from?" "Is this your first cruise?" followed quickly by questions about your past work, life, children etc.

We started out with two days in Amsterdam and loved the city. Boarded and were royally welcomed by the crew and the TERRIFIC cruise director; Martina. Our upper deck cabin was comfortable and house keeping was great. They did daily laundry for us as well.

Meals were good, the food looked wonderful but could have tasted better. Maybe the blandness was to accommodate the senior stomachs aboard? Huge choices and lashings of OK wine. A concern voiced by many was why the local markets not made more use of? I bought delicious fruit on land and tasted the local wines. There were some local wines offered on board but not enough considering the regions we were sailing through.

Cabin Review

Stateroom with French balcony and outside balcony

Cabin AA+

Queen size bed semi firm. Four pillows, duvet. Extra blankets in closet along with robes and slippers. Plenty of storage and nice long desk and two arm chairs. Internet was a huge problem, more often out than on. This also affected the TV and movie channels. Only sat on balcony a couple of times as when docked we were next to other ships and most travelling is done at night. The bathroom was by necessity small but fine with good shower. One problem is the shower floor which is glazed tile and very slippery. Lighting is good and you can read in bed.
