We choose this cruise because we wanted to see the beautiful Norwegian fjord landscapes. We also did touring and sightseeing before and after the cruise in Copenhagen and in the Danish countryside. The ship though older, was beautiful, clean and well maintained. Only the cabins (sofa and furniture) show the age of the ship. All of the common areas were beautiful, well-cared for and looked like new. We sailed a few years ago on both the Celebrity Solstice and the Regal Princess when they were brand new, and neither were the equal of the Serenade of the Seas. We loved this ship. The cabins were comfortable, with plenty of storage space. The bed, though hard, was comfortable. The food in both the dining room and the buffet was good to excellent. Service by our room steward, Fostor, and our dining room waiter and assistant waiter, Marie and Miguel, was impeccable.

The ship's singers were mediocre to poor and the dancers were good. The entertainment that was brought onto the ship though, was excellent. The irish tenors, the big band singer (sorry, forgot his name) and the Beatles group were all fabulous and provided the best shows we have ever seen on a cruise. We also enjoyed the magic show.

The ports were all incredible. The fjords, sailing into both Geiranger and Flam were equally beautiful, green, waterfalls, etc. We rented a car in Geiranger and drove out into the country side for breathtaking views. We did a fjord boat trip in Flam with spectacular views, but the boat was very crowded and we didn't get good seats so that experience was less than optimal. Honningsvag and the Nordkapp, though the arctic landscape is barren, were really scenic. (Be sure to take the bus into the Nordkapp.) We did sightseeing on our own in all of the other ports and enjoyed each of them.
