This is my second Viking European river cruise. Enjoyed the first one so much I took another one. This time going west on a different ship. While we stopped in some of the same cities, Tour Guides covered different areas, I took optional tours not offered on the first cruise.
I selected early spring, mid April to May for the generally cooler weather, absence of summer tourist crowds, and the chance to see the famous Keukenhof Gardens in Amsterdam. A beautiful garden sight I had just missed on my first river cruise.
Windmills at Kinderdijk are my favorite stop. Awesome in their beauty, going up inside them, feeling the power of the windmill turning in the wind.
Waterline level cabin at the start of the back third of the Long Ship. Very comfortable cabin, more than enough room for two people. Suitcase storage under the bed, drawers for clothing. Free refrigerator and room safe.
Viking's Scandinavian architectural style has clean lines, light colors, efficient design makes for easy living. No engine noise at all, gentle sounds of the water as the ship moves on.
Cabin is good value for the money. Savings over higher deck cabins easily covers all optional tours, other expenses. My second time with this level cabin on a Viking River Cruise.
An ADA elevator is available but does not go to the water level cabins. Only the above water decks.
