Our traveling partners chose the cruise line and dates. I just went along for the ride. Glad I did. Viking did everything right; the logistics, keeping the ship clean; gourmet meals representing different cuisines; friendly staff. The shore excursions were well orchestrated and interesting. Having guides who lived in the towns we visited make it very interesting.
Learned alot about many different cultures. Wish we had time to do every excursion offered.
Due to the slow speed on the Rhine, Viking docked, we boarded buses into the town so we could make the most of our day. Then we were bused back to the ship in another location. This was very smart on Viking's part. Instead of us sitting on the boat and wasting time, we were able to spend more time touring the towns. My only complaint was that I wish there was more 'free' time allotted in each port of call. The food on the ship was superb. Delicious food and lovely presentations. The meals were nicely portioned so we could try many different types of food. Not like the 'all you can eat' buffets on big ocean ships. Will definitely look into booking another viking river cruise in the near future.
Cabin with veranda was nice. Bathroom is small, but it's a ship! Liked the opportunity to unpack and stow luggage under the bed. And a map of the ship's location on the cabin's tv was cool.
