We have visited the Baltic before and realised that there is much more to see and do than one cruse can cater for. We were in a Grand Suite on deck 10 which was roomy and clean. The suite attendant was efficient but we would have expected a resupply of fruit on a 12 day cruise. The MDR was a disappointment from the start. The two of us were assigned to a table for ten and no one else showed up! Nevertheless it still took almost two hours to get served and the food was mediocre and lukewarm. The next night (a formal evening) we went to Izumi where the food and service was excellent. The following night we did not like the menu in the MDR and ate in the Windjammer. Our actions prompted both the maitre’d and concierge to interrogate us as to why we were not using the MDR. Judging by the amount of people in the Windjammer we were not alone. We spent the rest of the cruise dining in the Winjammer, Izumi and Chops Grill. All were good but the service in Izumi got very slow towards the end.

With the exception of the Ice Show, which was excellent, the production shows were poor. There was no spectacle and the songs were by and large unknown. The cast seemed disinterested and just went through there paces. To make matters worse much of it is mimed. By contrast the ice dancers really look like they are enjoying themselves and as a result so does the audience, The featured performers were average to good.

The shore trips organised by RCL were very good with excellent guides. In St Petersburg we participated in the 2 day exclusive tour. As There were only 16 participants the guide was able to get us around quite quickly without the need to be constantly round up stragglers. This meant we had more time in locations. I do not think we could have seen more in the two days.

Very spacious and clean. Fruit could have been refreshed. Whatever happened to the chocolates on the pillows?
