Vacationing on a river cruise is somewhat like an ocean cruise, but in some ways very different. Viking cruise is top notch. Very refined, luxurious experience. The Danube has so much history and activities to offer! Extra stay in Budapest was amazing - the prettiest city I’ve seen at night (and that includes NYC, LA, DC, Chicago, Seattle, among others)The included excursions were great, and the extra excursions available were very well done also. Our cruise director (Wes) was fantastic and did a great job of advising us on things to do. He wasn’t afraid to tell us the excursions or things to do that he didn’t like as much, and made the entire experience so much fun. Food was incredible, with a wide selection of American and local foods. Staff onboard was exceptional. Awesome people we met on the cruise, and since there were less than 200 passengers, we got to know them better - and still in touch with several of them! It is a bit pricey, but well worth the investment for a vacation.
