Loved Budapest, liked having a few days to get our sleep patterns on track with the time change. We added on Prague at the end of the cruise and it was a beautiful city, a highlight of our trip. We did this cruise for our 30th wedding anniversary and met another couple that were there for their anniversary...what are the odds of meeting someone who was from our area that was celebrating exactly the same day! We met people from all over the world. Enjoyed the smaller towns, hidden treasures that I probably would never have seen otherwise. Just a great experience. The food was great, the local wines and beers. The coffee bar and library was a great place to relax and enjoy some quiet company. The hotels we stayed at were also nice, well located in the city for transportation. We did a mix of excursions and were glad we didn't try to do everything because we enjoyed the bigger cities on our own after getting a feel from the local guides.
I wanted to say “Thank you” to Avalon for my recent river cruise experience. Our cruise director made the best out of the changes in our itinerary due to the low water levels in the Danube. I feel like the company bent over backwards to compensate us for the changes; including giving us “lunch money” for unscheduled time off the ship during lunch, refunding us for excursions. Also instead of staying docked in Passau with all the other cruise ships, we got to cruise up river to provide more time to enjoy the scenery. Isabel did a wonderful job and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip.
The bed was comfortable, loved being able to open our room up and have a glass of wine or cup of coffee and watch the beautiful scenery go by.
