This is my 5th Cruise with Celebrity (2nd on Summit). The ship seems a little better this year. Last year it was worn out (ripped chairs, etc). They are going to re-do the entire ship in Feb 2019 so that will be a big improvement. It really needs it. The ship lacks the "wow' factor that the other Celebrity ships have. Its very plain and dated. State rooms are okay except the outdated bathrooms and beds are too hard. Our room attendant on the 9th floor was excellent! Our room was always cleaned and turned over 2-3 times a day. The staff was not as friendly as usual. Many seemed tired and over worked. The Manager in the Shopping area (from Chile) was very nasty from the 1st day to the last. We were in Auqa Class so we dined in Blu. It was OKAY. Service was very slow even though it's a smaller dining area. Half the things we ordered we never received. We have had much better experience in Cosmopolitan in the past. Food was 3 stars at best. We did eat at Tuscon one night and that was a waste of money. Oceanside Buffet (main area) was like Golden Coral! Very disappointing this time around. Healthy options are lacking. Fruit was rotten. Celebrity is not a great cruise line for special diets (Gluten, Kosher, Vegan, etc) Room service forgot items on the list we put out on our door at night.
They really pushed beverage packages, speciality restaurants and wine tasting to the point is was annoying. The gym was ok. Newer equiptment. The only problem was they keep it so hot in the room you feel like you are going to pass out. I really hope the renovation brings better restaurants and a more attractive and exciting ship. The days at sea are very boring. Entertainment is lacking.
Cabin was ok. Very clean. The rotten fruit (apples, oranges, etc) they bring to the room is not needed. Bathrooms are outdated.
