Had not cruised on RCCL, and we were due for a cruise. This ship visited the ports we wanted to see and experience. The ship experience itself was great. Lots of deck chairs, and areas to relax. Only problem is, it was too darn hot on deck. The sun was merciless. I cannot say enough for the crew on the ship. We have cruised on three other cruise lines and this was the best. The dining room staff was outstanding. We had My Time dining and our Waitstaff asked our group of six to request their table each night. We did manage to have other Waitstaff for Breakfast and Dinner (one time) and they were all great. Food in the Dining Room was excellent, almost too much so. The only thing I did not care for was the Seared Tuna which was thin and dry (over cooked). The Head Waiter gathered our complaints and thanked us for our inputs as that is the only way they will improve.
RCCL did an excellent job in off loading people in ports. There was never a line where we docked. Tendering had some wai, Belize City, but not bad.
We would definitely consider RCCL again.
Cabin was excellent. Had a large couch with a king size bed and plenty of storage. Shower was round and a tight fit for anyone of more than normal size. Refrigerator was more of an ICE BOX. The solution to getting it cold inside was to order a Wine Container and fill it with Ice and place inside the ICE BOX. This kept the temperature pretty cool. Bring magnetic hooks. We used these to hold hats, our lanyards with ship pass, etc.
Great city for seafood. We always come a couple of days early to sample the many good restaurants such as Topwater Grill in San Leon and Stingaree on Bolivar Island.
Hired a Taxi to tour the island and found the most activity on the "West End". Spent $20/person, there were six of us, for all day (six hours).
First time here. Did no Mayan ruins since we had done so many in past cruises. Saw the four major attraction in Belize City via a hired Taxi.
Too comercialized and too many ships in port at one time. We had seven ships, one of which held 9700 passengers. Hard to bargin with this many suckers around.
