The physical condition of the ship is excellent; certainly does not look like a 19 year old vessel. Maintenance and cleaning staff are working constantly to keep her in superb condition. The one place that does need a lot of attention is the family pool/hot tub areas on 12 forward. There was a lot of mold and the area was dirty.
Many of the hot tubs were way too hot and stayed empty. Having a cool jetted tub would be very nice as well. All other pool areas were kept clean and were comfortable. There were easily enough loungers and chairs for everyone.
The staff were beyond excellent. Officers were very visible and approachable. 3 especially notable staff members, Wong Riu Riu (Cabin Stewardess - thank you for the birthday decorations!), Ruben and Lalnei (Cagneys) - all went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and well taken care of; they are all incredibly professional and friendly. A true asset to the vessel and company. Also, a big thank you to Joesel Pemberton for the birthday gift of chocolate covered strawberries and wine.
Our cabin, 7003, was small, however all space was utilized thoughtfully well. The mattress was a bit hard to my taste, although my husband found it quite comfortable. We both agreed that the pillows were flat. Starting around 4am; the vessel noises (engine, anchor chain, etc.) were loud enough to wake us up and keep us from being able to get any further sleep. Our cabin stewardess, Riu Riu kept the cabin spotless and was super energetic and friendly. The picture window was nice as were the blackout curtains that worked quite well.
Great Stirrup Cay was clean and a lot of fun; very glad we got a mesh back clamshell for the day. It was a great beach day. We were in a great area between the water, the bar, the tacos, and close to the straw market. One note, the vendors at the straw market were unusually dismissive; they seemed not to care if they made sales or not.
