Cabin Review

In the hall way before entering out stateroom, there was an obviously used q-tip lying on the floor against the baseboard. Not a good sign... it stayed there until day 3! Upon entering our cabin, we noticed a foul odor which I equated to stinking feet. We mentioned this to our cabin steward who just blew it off as cleaning chemical smells.

(He seemed to have a bad attitude, although he tried to be accommodating, he just seemed disgruntled. We heard him arguing with a woman I assume was his boss, loudly in the hall about his recent whereabouts.)

Then we sat on the bed. It was like sitting on a rock covered by a towel. I removed the sheets to view the mattress and saw an obviously OLD mattress covered by two equally old mattress pads. I again asked the room steward what he could do to help as I have fibromyalgia and could never tolerate sitting let alone sleeping on such a hard surface. He proceeded to pull out a duvet out from under the bed and placed in doubled on the center of the bed only, and said try this... at least your body will be more cushioned but not your head or feet! He had said to let him know if the padding didn't help. (It did not) I asked for him to do whatever he could to make the bed right. He placed another very thin duvet on op of the other, and I tried that but was still very uncomfortable and indeed in pain from the hard surface. Two nights without proper sleep left me unable to even go ashore on excursion we had paid for.

On the 1st afternoon I asked for an extension cord because we both have C-Paps. Our room steward said I should have asked earlier and that they were now out of them... it was 5 PM. (sorry but I was more concerned about getting the bed in order) He said to try the Guest Service Desk, which we did. There, a lady said 'let me look and see if there are any.' She came back with a brown $6 extension cord for which she wanted a $25 deposit! Ludicrous! Then we would have to stand in line the last day to return it to get our deposit back! I am still a bit mystified how you could be 'out of them,' but could turn one up for a fee!

On the 1st night when we went back to the room for the night, we were once again met with the foul odor. Then when we turned the room lights on we noticed a large red stain to the left of the bed in front of the night stand, and a large brown stain at the foot of the bed next to the baseboard. Nasty.

The couch in the room was equally hard, and the back 'dented in' loudly when you tried to sit back on it. The chair at the vanity was a typical hard chair, leaving me literally NO PLACE to feel comfortable sitting except for out on the deck chair.

On the 3rd night I finally went to Guest Services and told them about the bed... they said they would do what they could. That evening there was a single mattress from a berth bed atop the mattress on my side only. Finally I was able to get some sleep albeit on an lopsided bed.

(Ultimately we were offered a 10% voucher for a next cruise booked with RC, which is useless to us since we will never be sailing on RC again.)

One day I went out to stroll around the ship and try and learn the layout. My husband stayed back in the room. When I returned he showed me a video he had taken depicting our room. First the balcony and bed, and then to the vanity... and then to the air vents at the bottom of the vanity. I have never seen such filth on any ship I have been on. (and this was 'refurbished in Feb. 2018?) Cobwebs and layer upon layer of dust as far as you could see... all smelling just like 'dirty feet.' He then moved on to the air vent at the top on our stateroom door... MORE of the same filth. This prompted him to keep looking around. He found a palm sized shard of pointy broken glass laying atop the dusty wardrobe.

There was only one mostly used roll of toilet paper on the roll. We had to ask for more.

We had NO remote control and by that time were too tired to even ask about it, so we just used the button behind the TV and watched whatever came on. (it showed up on day 4)

We never got even one towel animal the whole trip.

There were lipstick stains on the rim of our 'clean' glasses after room cleaning. EW

The door on the balcony was so hard to move I bruised my arm trying to. Had to have my hubby open it for me if I wanted out there.

Just disgusting.
