Cruised on the Grand Classica 9/10/2018 to 9/12/2018 WoW! That basically sums it up. My wife and I have completed 70+ cruises. Every cruise line on the South East coast of Florida except Disney. 5 years ago we tried the Bahama Celebration and it was terrible to say the least. It changed ownership and the Grand Celebration went to the Bahamas to be a hotel for the hurricane victims. Then it went to the yards for a makeover. What a change. This cruise was on the Grand Classica and WoW again. Two totally different decors. Grand Celebration is lively with lots of marble shiny floors and a lot of brass. Beautiful! These ships are very old and have been upgraded to beauty. The Grand Classica has the old ship charm of a lot of wood. Beautiful wood varnished railings vs brass and the floors entering the buffet are varnished wood. So clean and shiny. Wood used beautifully everywhere. Yes there are marble floors also, but to a minimum. Even our bathroom had a Teak looking flooring. So nice. Not plastic. As for the bath room. Much more roomier that normal cruise lines. What was excellent was the pocket door for the bath room. So going in and out you have no worry about hitting someone with a normal swinging door. The sink counter top is marble and very large. As is the sink and the nice faucet. Hot water almost instantly. It is not a squeeze cramped space at all. Our room was an ocean view with a very nice large round porthole window. The bed and linen was very nice. The towels are extra thick. Nice gold yellow color. If you look out the window on other ships you will see a lot of rust. Not on this ship. Yes there are sections that need a bit of work. But considering the age of this ship. It almost looks brand new. Looking on the out side. The ship is so shiny white and I saw no rust as on many other ships. Every day everywhere there are crew members cleaning everything. Non stop.

At the buffet there was a person posted outside of the bathroom. Constantly making sure it was spotless and it was. All the public bathrooms were very, very nice. Colors were excellent and new looking. Now the food. Very good buffet and grill. Burgers are super big. Several selections of sausage not only hot dogs. What is nice about the buffet are the small narrow containers for the food. Not much in them but many next to one another and the food stays hot. Because they are small. Fresh replacements happen a lot faster than on other ships. Breakfast is standard and very good. Complementary dining is very good. My wife had the salmon, so big she could not eat everything. She loved everything. The second night I ordered the NY 12 oz. strip steak. It arrived fast and perfect. I really think it was 14 oz. it was so big. Delicious and very tender. $18.00 + 18% but well worth it. As for the crew. Unbelievable on both ships. So wonderful, helpful and smiling. Could not have been more pleasant.

Many other cruise lines need a crew like they have. That is what makes the cruise wonderful. The two shows were good but the magician was fantastic. So many things to do while at sea. Not much on the ship to do in port. Relax, do the hot tub or pool, get some sun. Bingo was almost a wash out. Mon-Wed cruise only 250 guests. Casino, lots of new slot machines that are NOT on other ships. Nice to see different games.

Comfortable bed and very nice linens. Cabin steward was excellent and super nice and polite always.

Port Reviews

Freeport

If they docked on the other side of the pier you would be able to get off where the action is. At one time they did. I put in my review that a shuttle should be available from the ship to the other side of the port. You can easily walk if but if it starts raining you are out of luck.
