All in all, this was a wonderful cruise. We were impressed especially with the superlative service from the crew members. They all seemed to love their jobs and were pleased to offer extra help — even to the point of sewing up a tear in a hat! The accommodations were fine with amenities we didn't expect, like Champagne in the room when we arrived and free laundry service. (Unbeknownst to us, this was part of the package we booked. Not available for all bookings.)

The food was very good and the choices were broad, altho we were hoping that more of it was local. For example, the lamb was from New Zealand, not France.

There were numerous side trips offered, some included in the price, others optional at an extra cost. As a wine lover, I particularly enjoyed the trip up the hill of Hermitage, where I could see and walk thru these noble vines. At the end of the walk we visited the Cave de Tain l'Hermitage, a coop that produces much of the wine from the winegrowers of the area.

Veranda Suite

When we booked the tour, we didn't realize this was the 2nd best room option after the Explorer Suites. We have to say that it was just fine, except we couldn't get the TV remotes to work right. But that didn't matter since we were not on the cruise to watch TV but to enjoy the cruise and the side trips.
