We had only cruised once before many years ago and wanted a cruise worthy of being the 30 year Anniversary honeymoon we never had. We chose this particular cruise based on the itinerary and the reputation of the cruise line per other family members and our travel agent, but also because of the affordability for the quality of the experience.

I had dreaded the check-in process, remembering long lines in the heat and crankiness of people on both sides of the counter from our previous experience, but check in was a breeze, from airport pickup to SeaPass issuing to being in our cabin in less than an hour. Check out was just as easy, with staff providing clear and efficient directions and assistance.

The Freedom of the Seas was everything we hoped it would be and all was kept in fine order despite being at the end of the season. There were some issues with overhead lights in the dining room and toilets that stopped flushing, but these were addressed immediately when reported. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made an effort to personalize each encounter. The Dining Room and Windjammer buffets had consistently good food, although main dining room selections were limited and portions/quality needed addressing at times.
