We chose this cruise with my in-laws and wife’s sister and her husband because it seemed like a good deal. $1000 each for a week on one of RC’s premier ships, the Oasis of the Seas. Be warned: this ship is worn out and so is the crew. It seemed that the crew is either brand new and knew nothing about this large ship or the crew is knowledgeable but rude and burned out from the multitude of guests this is the largest cruise we have ever been on 6500 people and 2200 staff. It was all’s the worst cruise we have ever been on...I will sum it up this way. All other cruises we have had fun because of the staff and activities, this cruise we had fun despite the staff and activities.

Here’s the GOOD parts: The formal dining room food was excellent and that staff was great. The cabin was laid out well with the exception of not being able to see the tv from the bed (this was true in all three rooms and one was an ocean balcony). The ship has a ton of potential and some amazing places (Central Park, Broadway, the rock walls and flowriders). Labadee was very nice and it’s a shame it’s owned by Royal Carribean since after this cruise I think we will be choosing other cruise lines for all our cruises. To our own surprise Carnival has become our favorite cruise line!

Here’s the BAD parts of the cruise: The ship needs a remodel, it has been used abused and not well maintained. The ping pong tables look like someone beat them with a sledge hammer, every other chair I sat in was wobbly and broken, buttons don’t work on elevators, every other coke machine didn’t work. The ONE electrical outlet in the room was glitchy, the maintenance crew had to come fix the shower in our room which had no hot water or water pressure. The mattress was a rock...I actually think we were just sleeping on a box springs and they just put egg crate foam on it. The shows lakes variety and were all singing and dancing with the same cast over and over again. The Cats Broadway show was 3 hours long and had an intermission at 1.5 hours, we stayed for the whole show but about 90% of the audience left at the intermission. I heard constantly from the staff “sorry we don’t have enough staff” and I found myself constantly saying to other people who would mention this was their first cruise “ other cruises aren’t like this” or “this is unusual, don’t let this give you a bad taste on cruising”. I really could go on and on with negatives...it was awful in comparison to RC Cruises we had done in the past and compared to carnival, MSC and Norwegian. We have cruised all these lines about 10 times in the last few years and we will be avoiding RC from this point on. If your are trying to decide between this ship or another...choose the other. Don’t get suckered in by the lower prices you are seeing on their cruises...the lower prices are there because their loyal customers are “jumping ship”!

Cabin Review

Interior

Cabin 4V

The cabin is average. I liked the bed pacementvat the back wall, but the tv did not rotate to where you could see it from the bed, the tv only faces the small couch which is not very comfortable. The bathroom is a nice size and the closet is a nice size also.
