We went on this cruise to relaxation and succeed. Check In started in Seattle and was very quick and simple (minus the traffic getting to the port). The food was OK... kind of bland but there is always salt and pepper. They had great entertainment, however, there were many occasions we looked at the schedule and found there was nothing to do and many activities were packed because there were so few scheduled. Arriving in Astoria on a Sunday allowed us to visit their "Sunday Market," however, most of the shops in downtown Astoria were closed. San Francisco offered a free shuttle from the port to Pier 39, however, only one bus was providing this service and the line was long. Much time was lost. We found that of the Hop On Hop Off buses....only Big Bus offers a stop at the cruise ship terminal. Monterey Bay was disappointing. The city provided no transportation services for cruise ship tourists. It was a very long walk to Cannery Row. The Aquarium increased the price of entrance. It was very beautiful but I was too warm and too tired to give a damn about spending any money once we got into cannery row. We got ice cream and went back to the ship. It would be nice if Princess offered internet service at no charge, would lower the prices for their pictures and spa services. This is our fourth cruise with Princess and we would do another one but not to these ports.

Our room had twin beds (should have been a queen). The bed was horrible. When you sat on the bed it deflated and was too soft. It made my back hurt. They have made it so you cannot hook up your computer to the TV and watch movies you brought from home. Outlets near the bed need European adapters otherwise regular electrical outlets are on the desk for your chargers.

Port Reviews

Monterey

No transportation from dock to Cannery Row and Aquarium. The city is not interested in having tourist from cruise ship industry. Some locations increased prices.

San Francisco

We used free shuttle to Pier 39. Needed more buses for this shuttle service so time was not wasted standing around the port. Hop On Hop Off tour bus that includes the cruise ship terminal in their route is the Big Bus company. Many places to visit and things to do.

Astoria, Oregon

Sunday Market was nice. They provided shuttle services for $6 for the entire day. Most of the downtown stores were closed.
