t had been nine years since we sailed HAL,and twenty since sailing the Inside Passge on HAL. There add-on land tour of Denali National Park, and sailing from Anchorage sealed the deal.
In the dining room, we noticed a drop in the choice of meal selections. More average than top end, but the food was very good and the table service was excellent, after a blip on day 1.
Having taken the four-day land tour beforehand, embarkation was a doddle, as we were the last coach in. All pre-checked luggage was already in our stateroom to meet us.
Located Portside near the stern, this turned out to an excellent balcony cabin with no noise from above, below, or to each side. Might have been diferent on a summer sailing, but with it being the last sailing from Anchorage (Seeward) Alaska of the year, then most balconies were unused. Good space on this category, both outside and within the cabin. We even had a bath and a bigger bathroom as a result than our last few cruises.
Ship turned slowly in one hour a complete 360o to allow every cabin to see the glacier calving. Excellent!
