Sail Date: Sep 2018
Cabin: Inside Stateroom 11

Having only sailed with Celebrity before, and wanting a cruise in mid-September sailing from Southampton, this was my best choice. As always with Celebrity, the quality of service, food, amenities etc was excellent.

My criticim is always that the optional extras (drinks - except for standard coffee, tea, non-bottled water and fruit drinks from the machines, WiFi, spa services, speciality restaurants, and shore excursions) are excessively expensive, and as a solo traveller, I have to pay almost as much for my cabin as 2 people sharing (a £70 reduction on a 2-week cruise).

The staff are generally excellent, especially the waiters and cabin stewards, and almost all will greet you when passing.

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom 11

Cabin 11

Could do with a bit more storage space for clothes - a reasonable amount of hanging space, but only 3 drawers that aren’t particularly large. There are lockers over the bed, but they are a bit awkward to get to. The cabins are comfortable and have adequate space and the bathrooms are fine. I like the fact that the showers are powerful and have doors rather than curtains!

Port Reviews

Toulon

The ship was actually docked approximately 10km from Toulon, but there is a water taxi to Toulon itself.

Florence (Livorno)

I took a shuttle bus to Livorno and had a wander round. Found a nice cafe a couple of minutes walk from where the shuttle bus stops, where there was free WiFi!

Corsica (Ajaccio)

This was a tendered port. There was a wait of about 20 minutes for the tender, but it dropped us off right by the city centre. I had a walk around, then found there was a nice beach just 5 minutes walk from the harbour - I wish I had known about this before, as I would have gone there for a swim in the sea!

Barcelona

As ever with Barcelona, you have to be very careful of your possessions and aware of who is around you, due to the proliferation of pick-pockets. Pleasant enough for a wander round La Rambla.

Where the shuttle bus drops off and picks up is a large open square with no shade and a few small benches, so be aware that you might have to stand in the blazing sun for a long time waiting for a bus back - about 35 minutes in my case.

Lisbon

Went on a open-top bus tour - buses leave from outside the cruise terminal. Commentary was via headphones, supplied by the driver, but it took a while to find the correct channel for an English guide! The commentary was accompanied by Portuguese folk music, which got a bit much by the end of the tour!
