We chose it because the date and itinerary suited our needs. It was our third cruise and the first with MSC. The greatest impact was the volume level of the other passengers. My goodness, the Italians are LOUD!!!! They came mob-handed in big family groups (too many pushchairs) and they have no volume control. They screech at each other at the top of their voices. They also have no concept of queueing, constantly squeezing round you to the front and barging ahead with no manners.
This cruise was unusual that a number passengers embarked and disembarked at each of the seven ports, so there was no 'start' or 'finish' to the cruise. It was like a holiday camp on a ferry.
After the initial shock we got used to the ship and enjoyed the cruise because the destinations were fun. However the ship is pretty chaotic and disorganised. There is a great lack of information, particularly about the ports of call - no maps or information available as you leave the ship at each port. There are few onboard activities organised for the evenings.

Balcony Stateroom
The cabin was fine and there was enough storage space. There was some noise from overhead as we were beneath the buffet. Furniture was dragged about late at night and early morning, but it didn't trouble us too much.
Port Reviews
Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)
We started and ended the cruise here, but stayed in a hotel for a couple of nights. Lovely city.
Valencia
Took the open-top hop on-hop off ride. Quite good. Nice city.
Marseille
Loved the old port. We took the petit train ride which took us along the corniche and up the hill to overlook the city and port. Very good value for money and an excellent trip. Marseilles was so much nicer than we'd expected of a port town that used to have a rough reputation.
Palermo (Sicily)
Busy interesting city that you can walk to from the ship.
Sardinia
Another bustling town. We walked from the ship and climbed up to the historic top of the town. Interesting.
