Buckle up! This is going to be a long one...
First, we'll start with the ship:
The Getaway epitomizes Miami. From the artistry on the outside to the rooms inside, the ship screams south Florida. The ship is easy to navigate, and it offers a large variety of activities. The decor is by no means shoddy, but the ship will be undergoing a refurb soon, and you can sense that it is ready for one. It's not the biggest ship in the world, so you will definitely feel the motion of the ocean. One of our party experienced sea sickness fairly consistently, while others (who are usually sensitive to motion sickness) did just fine. She mentioned that the aft of the ship and the top decks were the worst for her. In port, she was generally fine.
Cabin was fine for what we wanted. Of course, it was very small, and you could hear plenty of hallway noise. But for what we needed (just a place to crash), it was sufficient. I highly recommend this area, as the other rooms are surrounded by bars and restaurants which are noisy all night.
We hired an independent taxi (outside of the port). He charged significantly less and took us everywhere. It was amazing.
I lived in Miami for years. The traffic is awful, the people are rude, and it's not worth your time to do anything here unless you're getting drunk or going to the beach.
