This cruise had an excellent itinerary for a repositioning cruise and was a good length and price.
Embarkation was easy and we were amongst the first on the ship. We sailed the Jade 3 months prior to Norway and many of the crew were still on the ship and many recognised us which is amazing.
The Jade has been recently refurbished and looks good. Like many of these ncl ships movement around the ship can be frustrating as there is a lack of hallways and the average age on these longer cruises is quite old (average on this one was over 65 officially and seemed even older).
Overall larger than other inside cabins. Modern decor for ncl. Great storage. Bathroom decent size but plumbing problems.
Plenty of shopping options, mixture of old ruins throughout the city. Plenty to do outside of the city.
Rented a car from Bolts, superb service. Loads to see and do. Eashness cliffs, Scalloway castle, ponies, St Ninians Isle, Jarlshof etc all great places to visit. Lerwick town itself super cute. Would love to go back.
Had great weather so hiked up to Cabot’s tower and then onto Qidi Vidi where we had a beer from the brewery. We hiked back. Hikers paradise. Town super cute with colourful buildings. Loads of volunteers met the ship which was awesome.
Met local friends who drove us to Peggy’s Cove and Lunenberg and later the Citadel. Plenty to see and the autumn colours were beautiful. Lunenberg a great place to visit.
Only had a short stop. Holy Donught, Portland Lobster Co for rolls, Gilbert’s Chowder House for clam chowder all great foodie spots. The Victorian Mansion is lovely. The town is easy for strolling.
Walked, walked and walked. 9/11 memorial. Highline. Chelsea Markets. Tribeca. Soho. Wall St. Took Staten Island Ferry (free). Greenwich Village. Great day
