Booked this cruise European Canals, Rivers and Cities, then looked at reviews just prior to sailing and found the Astoria was the oldest cruise ship in the world, plus some reviews were a bit worrying, especially about the cabins and crew.

Ok will deal with cabin 464 later. The food throughout was excellent both in the Restaurant and in the Bistso, the quality quantity and service was very good. Our waiter in the Restaurant was superb in sorting out my wife's dietary requirements.

Asked for first sitting, got second, so didn't use Restaurant as much as usual.

Cabin Review

Cabin superior ocean view.

AVOID.

Booked this grade of cabin as it was as near they type we have had on previous CMV ships.

It was very small, no dressing table and the storage space was limited. Just a well we were only 9 nights.

The central heating was SO noisy, never slept first night, so bought earplugs in Rotterdam, which helped, plus as with all our cabins on CMV whether your set the temperature on 12c or 28c they just blow cold.

We had a fridge, which was balanced on 2 bits of wood so that when you opened the door with bottles in the door it tipped forward, so much so that then returning one afternoon the thing was not working, so lifted it out of its housing and found the plug had come out. Plus it gave off a very gassy smell.

The electric plugs / sockets along the wall behind the beds. Whilst removing a plug one day, the whole socket came away, plus the plastic trim, exposing all the wiring. Managed to nail it back in place, but had to be very careful then removing plugs.

Great to have a cabin witha bath though.

Our cabin steward ANNA was fantastic , a credit to herself and the company.
