Sail Date: Oct 2018

This was a birthday celebration cruise and a trip through the Panama Canal, one that we have never taken. We arrived in San Diego on October 9th from Phoenix Arizona and went from the airport right to the terminal. San Diego's cruise terminal is rather dated and could use some modernization. We were in a Suite and are Elite members so we went through the check in line quickly. We then, however had to sit and wait as we did not begin boarding until after 11:00.

We were escorted to Michael's Club, met Shiela, the hostess, and went to Luminae for lunch.

Our rooms were ready at about 1:00 and we were in a handicapped accessible Sky Suite, as that was the only Suite available when we booked the cruise. The rooms themselves are dated, and it is getting about time for an update to the ship, but it was not in bad enough shape to make the enjoyment of the cruise dissipate.

Port Reviews

Colon (Cristobal)

probably should have taken an excursion as there was NOTHING near the pier. There is a small shopping center walking distance, but not worth the time. They are in the process of building a new shopping and tourist district right near the pier, so things may be different in the future.

Cartagena (Colombia)

We did not take an excursion, but went to a little botanical garden and animal habitat at the pier, right off the shuttle bus. It was really very nice and we got to see and photograph monkeys, parrots and toucans, as well as other birds and animals close up. We had been to Cartagena before so we did not go on any excursions
