This was our first cruise. We chose it because of the time of year, cost, and short flight. It was also advertised through Costco. The ship is big with lots to do! We had a lovely aft balcony stateroom. It was quiet and clean. The bed was comfortable. There was closet space for clothes. I do wish there were more outlets and I wish with hair dryer was more powerful. TV placement for good for watching TV in bed. The balcony was wonderful: no wind and fabulous views! Our next cruise, though, will be with shower that have sliding doors instead of the curtain that sticks to your wet legs or leaks water all over the bathroom. Such a simple thing to fix and so many cruises have door rather than curtains. We did not use the fitness area but pools were nice. We liked the more adult area located aft, near the restaurants. Evening programs were great! Food was very good. Buffet line was a buffet line with good and bad, typical. Specialty restaurants were amazing and worth the extra money! We're not shoppers so did find the constant "spend your money here" promotions of art, jewelry, photos, wine, etc. annoying after the first or second day. We will look at Princess again, if they get doors for the showers, otherwise, there are other cruises that are comparable with doors (am I beating a dead horse here?) as we really did find that annoying. The excursions, not the fault of Princess, were eh. Again, Mexico culture influenced the excursions and they took us from store to store and a few historical highlight along the way. We came back with shipboard credit, and it was refunded since we booked through Costco. We did not buy drink packages but did go to Happy Hour and got the 2 for 1 and that is how we ended up with shipboard credit. We are not soda pop drinkers or specialty coffee drinkers. Getting on and off the ship were spent in lines. Transfer to the airport dropped us off at the wrong airlines and we spent an hour getting through the airport with luggage. Called Princess and they said that they book through a third party. We were not familiar with airport and didn't realize we were dropped off at the wrong place. I was disappointed that the cruise or third party did not make it right or compensate somehow. We relied on their experience and lost that gamble, a lesson learned. We also learned that the cost of this type of cruising can be just as expensive of one that includes more after paying extra for drinks, restaurants, excursions, coffees, photos, wifi, and more. Basic cruise is not too bad and fortunately, we were not interested in a lot of the "extras" but I our next two cruises are more inclusive and will cost the same, if not less, per night. Something to think about.
Replace shower curtain with a door. Very tight shower. Called for room service twice and sat on hold for 5 minutes each time and gave up. We had a couple hours that our toilet did not work and while it did not bother us, we were offered $25 ship credit for the inconvenience and a offer to spend more money at the gift shop.
