Travelled with my partner on our first cruise, departing San Juan on September 22. We spent three nights in San Juan prior to the cruise departing, exploring Old San Juan on our first full day, and spending the second doing some shopping (in preparation for the cruise) and chilling out at our hotel.

We arrived at the port around 12:30pm to throngs of people, however overall the embarkation process was smooth and we were on the ship in about twenty minutes. We had a twelve-pack of spring water in our carry on baggage but the only time this would have been picked up was when the bags were put through the x-ray scanner, and nothing was said at all by the security staff.

While the decor of our cabin was dated, it was very clean and well-maintained - in the age of smart devices the main downside was the absence of bedside power sockets, but otherwise the design included numerous spaces to store things so everything was out of the way, making the room feel less cramped. The only other downside was the mini-fridge which did a better job of keeping the small space it was in warm than it did keeping drinks chilled. Read more
