Sail Date: Sep 2018

We have now sailed on Koningsdam for 52 days over the last 18 months. Being a newer ship it has lots of great features. USB port in room. Glass enclosed large shower. TV with many options. Doors and drawers that automatically close. Buffet area is well organized and food is delicious! Crew are polite and actually notice you. Cruise director is the best we have had and we have sailed 20 times! Holland got this ship right. Entertainment is not as good as some but plenty of venues to be entertained. The only problem we experienced was not Holland's fault but our own for choosing Tuscany Bus for an excursion. They cancelled without refund. It was the one time we wished we had booked through Holland. We sail again on Koningsdam in early January 2019, can't wait! Would highly recommend this ship especially those who have only sailed with other cruise lines. You won't be dissappointed!

Cabin Review

Standard Interior Stateroom

Cabin K

With the extra perks listed above helps to make the room more manageable. It is laid out for easy access. Could be bigger but we don't spend to much time there.

Port Reviews

Dubrovnik

Had a few places we had picked to visit and were not disappointed. Dubrovnik is a cool area. Holland did kinda screw up on the shuttles from the port to the old town. They only used 3 buses and the lines were long and waiting time was not for us, we walked.

Kotor

This port uses tenders but you won't mind because the backdrop here is absolutely Gorgeous. This is in our top 3 all time and we have been to over 60. Fun old town to get lost in, which we did. Higher end shops were a nice change from the crap you usually see. Loved Kotor!

Corfu

We were expecting more for our first visit to Greece but we did enjoy ourselves and ate well. You probably need to get away from the city center area to enjoy it's beauty, we didn't, our bad!

Katakolon (Olympia)

Nothing here accept the Olympic ruins. We feel that once you have seen several ruins it's no longer a big deal. The ship charges quite a bit for their tour but we noticed local tours with tix and transportation for 20 euros, check it out!

Athens (Piraeus)

Loved Athens! Went on our own food tour via the metro and loved every bite! We did walk through Plaka but were disappointed in the area because it's a tourist trap with cheap crap, overpriced restaurants and hawkers approach you about eating in their establishment constantly. Did go to the Acropolis and the views back over Athens are awesome.

Santorini

Rented a car and traveled to Oia early to beat the crowds and we did. This town is more beautiful in person than the pictures you marvel at! There is one main pedestrian walkway that is full of shops, mostly tourist stuff but you can venture out to look at the most gorgeous views ever! The cable car to get from the port to Faro was OK going up but late in the day the lines were very long so we walked down the 587 steps or so getting out of the way of the charging smelly, crapping donkeys. The walk down was brutal and stunk but we made it!

Cartagena (Spain)

Were very surprised. Had no idea and never heard of this place but it is very nice, clean and the food, street entertainment and cafe's were excellent. Would come here again.

Barcelona

Have been to Barcelona 4 times so we hopped on the metro and then Renfe to get to Sturgis. This was the best excursion we had on entire cruise. Great little beach town 45 minutes south of Barcelona. Very clean, fun town with winding streets and cafe's galore. Great food and drink. This is a great place for a day trip if you want to get away from Barcelona

Monaco (Monte Carlo)

Took the bus to Nice, which sucks and then to Villafranche sur Mar which was beautiful even on a cloudy day. The little old town is down a rather steep hill and going down to walk the shops and dine was a great experience. It was on the way up that hurts. We made it and had a few adult beverages before hopping on the bus back to Monte Carlo which we had been before. Were going to go to Eze also but the weather didn't cooperate. It's supposed to be a beautiful little village, next time!

Florence (Livorno)

We had booked on our own through Tuscany Bus but they had cancelled our airport transportation without notice and NO REFUND! We did have another tour with them in Livorno. Picked us up at a plaza in city center, very disorganized. Bus was full and little A/C. The host explained what we were going to do but in broken English so we couldn't understand. They had little knowledge other that what they had printed. Went to Lucca which we loved and Pisa which we had been to before. Spend your hard earned money on any company not named Tuscany Bus. Dishonest and Unreliable. 8 weeks, still no refund, they ignore us!
