This was an college alumni organized cruise and I had a group of friends that went with me on a cruise of the Mediterranean (Spain, France and Italy). The ship service and food was very good. Our cabin was kept spotless. The crew was extremely well-trained and helpful. However, I was very disappointed in the shore excursions. They were very touristy, and lacking in depth. I have cruised with Seabourne, Silversea and Windstar, and their shore excursions were much more in depth and immersive--with VIP special arrangements for getting around the crowds and into the sights around all of the other tourists. The descriptions were often not in keeping with the actual excursion. Oceania also nickels and dimes for everything--beverage packages, service charges added to the fare, etc. Competitor cruises charge a higher flat fee, but then you are not charged for anything else, the fare is all-inclusive. Also, the internet service offered by the ship was low-grade, and the crew member assigned to assist with this was unhelpful. I don't think I will said with Oceania again, having had better experiences with competitors.

Small bathroom, but the beds were very comfortable. We did feel pretty packed in though, and the couch was never empty, full of belongings.

BarcelonaMontserrat was a splendid place to visit, but I thought the ship should have made arrangements for us to actually get around and see it better. The description of this shore excursion was not accurate--all we did in Barcelona was drive around 2 highlights.View All 11,328 Barcelona Cruise Port Reviews

NaplesThis was described as an "exclusive" tour, and was more expensive. The only thing exclusive about it was a smaller group. The mini-bus was very uncomfortable and jarring. And we followed the big bus cheaper tour the ENTIRE day, so did nothing at all differently. In Sorrento, we were just dropped in at a store where we were encouraged to buy things, then free time--no tour at all of Sorrento but explore on your own. There was then non enough time for Pompeii and we just did a walk through. I was very disappointed.View All 11,328 Naples Cruise Port Reviews

PortofinoWe could not get into port due to ocean swells. there was not a satisfactory alternative to the river cruise of the Italian Reviera (seems like this is common and the ship should have back up plans), so we took a cab to Portofino for 200 Euros (the cab waited while we explored Portofino)View All 73 Portofino Cruise Port Reviews

ToulonWe toured St Tropez and Port Grimaud. Our tour guide was terrible, was rude to one of the passengers who needed to use the bathroom, rambled on with inane information, and we learned nothing about what we were seeing. The ship should NEVER take guests to Port Grimaud with is nothing but a tourist trap; nothing historic or special to see.View All 281 Toulon Cruise Port Reviews
