We just returned from our cruise aboard NCL Spirit. We chose this cruise for port destinations such as Crostia, Slovenia, Greece and Malta. We stayed in Balcony Cabin 11662 and we were very happy with this location. We enjoyed the close proximity and easy access to the rear decks and often had breakfast there. We were apprehensive after reading reviews but didn't have any troubles with noise or other issues. We enjoy smaller ships with less crowds and easier to get around. Each cruise ship has pros and cons and there were many items on the plus side. We found the staff helpful and friendly overall. Some dining staff were not quite as professional but that could just be individual situations. The cabins are compact but fine for two. It's an older ship but public areas have been nicely updated. We weren't looking for problems so didn't seem to encounter them. Overall the food was good with enough variety to suit most. Some of the shows were outstanding. We would not hesitate to suggest this cruise.

Compact but suitable for 2. Appreciated the coffee maker and tons of clothes hangers for a change.

The Shogun restaurant was our least favourite dining option. We found the main dining rooms somewhat crowded and loud but usually we enjoyed our meals. On a few occasions, we were seated near a staff kitchen with glaring bright lights and the noise of dishes and asked to be moved. We were disappointed at times with the dining service (ordering tea/coffee but not served cream without asking again, served bread but no butter, gluten free ordering was not well executed). Other evenings the service was very good. Having done both, I prefer assigned tables where wait staff get to know guests and their preferences.

While we didn't access any specialty restaurants, the Italian one, La Trattoria was located within the Raffles buffet area separated by portable room dividers. Surprising and not appealing. We enjoyed the Blue Lagoon for drinks, wings and burgers on a few occasions. We enjoyed the Galaxy of the Stars with its comfortable interior and great views.

Embarkation and disembarcation were efficient. The Civattechia port facilities were basic if not rustic at boarding.
