Unfortunately we were sailing in an unlucky year as 2018 saw one of the driest condition on the rivers in 100 years. So we weren’t able to sail on our assign ship the Opal. Our embarkation didn’t happen on Oct 24 as scheduled because no ship could reach Budapest. We were able to finally board the Jewel on Oct 28 in Regensburg.
The ship was comfortable and it was smooth sailing, we had a good crew.
The cabin was small but clean and comfortable, the little balcony was nice when we could open our curtains.
We weren’t able to sail on the Opal due to dry condition and low water levels and our ship being unable to reach us in Budapest. We sailed on the Jewel 5 days in the trip, so as of Oct 28 to Nov 7. We were in the same assigned cabin B217 as we would have been on the Opal and it was nicely organized although a bit small. It was clean and comfortable.
We had a knowledgeable and entertaining friendly guide`
A very nice tour of this old town of Slovakia. The day before we had lunch in a nice pub close to the St Stephens square in Vienna. Both experiences enjoyable
Because of the low water situation we had to take this tour by bus a 31/2 hour each way ride on the bus and way too short time and rushed visit in Salzburg.
Guided tour was interesting.
Nice time walking the town near the port, first day on the ship so quite happy to be there.
Interesting guided tour
We took the tour of Rothenburg and really enjoyed that medieval town. We had a guided tour which we really enjoyed and a lot of free time which was fun too.
Due to the drought condition we weren’t able to sail through this nice gorge during the day so scenic booked a tour with a local tour boat and it was ok.
Very touching place
Nice overview of the city

We never saw a zoo this fantastic before, a variety of species and the animals looked happy and were very active. A must see.
