Another commercial port we docked in; watched cargo being unloaded.
Colon, everything closed when we arrived

I chose this cruise because of the Norwegian reputation and the promotion offered. This cruise was one step above the worst ever!. The embarkation process was horrible as we sat an hour and a half AFTER the supposed boarding time with people lines up outside and around the block. This was only made worse by the 3+ hours standing in line to disembark.

Our cabin was OK, but for the money we paid for a Junior Suite it was not up to the standards of other lines we traveled on. Tee dining was OK, but the choices were not all that great, we ended up with the Classic Favorites over half the time. The entertainment was boorish, the service was so so; if it weren't for a cople of waitresses it would have been horrible.

As to Ports - WOW, several were a waste of time and money. In Santa Marta we were parked in a huge coal, yes black coal, dock. We were told before shipping out we would be stopping in Belize CIty and made plans, while at sea change to the biggest waste, Norweigans own island, HA! nothing there to do. Colon, stores all closed when we arrived, opened for a couple of hours AFTER dark. Only good excusion was the Chocolate Excursion in Guatemala.

Port Reviews

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Went to small shopping and Turtle Farm, OK, nothing really interesting

Falmouth

THe area for tourists was clean and neat.

Cartagena (Colombia)

Nice but very, very crowded. The guide for our carriage was very poor.

NO RATING FOR SANTA MARTA, day before this, it was VERY BAD

Puerto Limon

Walking tour and got to see and taste chocolate made for us.

Harvest Caye

Really a waste of time, nothing there! Not where we were told we'd be going via email prior to boarding by Norweigian.

Santo Tomas de Castilla

Great tour of Chocolate Plantation!

Costa Maya

Three huge cruise ships in port, over 12,000 people. I understand that Norwegian has no control over other cruise lines but two were Norwegians in a VERY SMALL PORT!
