We chose this cruise, it being the only one Fremantle to Fremantle because being from Perth we didn’t want to fly. Embarkation was great, no waiting and staff were very friendly. We have been on this ship a few times now but were very disappointed that they have taken away Verdi’s Pizzeria which was always popular and replaced it with an over priced restaurant (Curtis Stone). There was no pizza anywhere else, they classed the squares of thick basically bread with little toppings at the Grill as the pizzeria. The horizon court food was very tasty but needed a lot more variety as there was a very small amount of vegetables being mainly potatoes and carrots, no cauliflower, pumpkin or broccoli. And I was very disappointed that there was never prawns up there. On previous cruises with Princess there was always an endless supply. Another item of food they’ve deleted from the menu to save money. Another surprise for us was the removal of Happy Hour, what are you’s thinking?? The drinks have gone up to ridiculous prices, almost double and no Happy hours. The wheelhouse bar which is usually packed and rocking was always empty! It’s been spoilt by Princess. Plus the waiters in the wheelhouse bar tried hard not to notice you when they walked past and spent most of the time at the bar. The dining room was always very nice food, our waiter could’ve had a bit more of a personality. Entertainment in the Theatre was great except the Princess dancers and singers doing the same routines and acts on every ship. British Invasion and Motown etc which I’ve seen many times. Didn’t do any excursions as they were also overpriced. The cafe on deck 5 has great pastries, rolls and desserts but the coffee was very weak. Being a cafe it’s the one place you think they’d get it right. Plus I got ignored by the waiter. He served people around me like I wasn’t even there. Quite rude. They need more music around the pool area also. All these 30 min shows are pointless and put some music videos on the big screens! All this Cirque du Soleil crap hour after hour and documentaries are boring and annoying. People want good pool party music. Also the public toilets on several occasions were disgusting! Need more frequent cleaning. I’ve done 105 days with Princess but are thinking of switching to Rccl if things aren’t changed. Bring more Princess ships to Fremantle, Not Astor! do return trips, bring back Happy Hour, bring back the Pizzeria and put the drinks prices back to where they were. Seems like Princess are trying to see how much they can rip us off before we complain.
