I chose the cruise because it was cheap! $649ish plus port taxes for 10 nights and free beverages sounded really good to us. We had read fairly bad reviews for the last 2 years on MSC and were avoiding them like the plague. Bad price 'matters' and we bit the bullet and took the Divina. Embarkation with or mixed labrador service dog was not bad. Somewhat of a crowd but tolerable. We were directed to the 14 floor for a buffet lunch where we expected massive crowds. There were a lot of passengers but agin, tolerable and we found a place to sit and tasted the many dishes that were served surprisingly hot and surprisingly delicious. The food dished were varied every day since then and there was always several dished that were in my humble opinion incredible. Cabins were opened around 130pm on embarkation day and were clean and had adequate room to unpack and were as good as most other ships I have been on. The balcony was average. The ship itself was clean and incredibly detailed and was the most beautiful ship I can remember being on, and this is after being on over 60 cruises of one week or longer...NCL, Carnival, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Regent, Holland America.... The meals were outstanding. Nice portions, great appetizers and desserts. Waiter service was average and average is good! Entertainment was very good with a show every evening except for the first night. There was also live music in at least 4 places on the ship at the same time every evening. Activities were not a strong point for us but there were many choices for the average cruiser. Service was always good everywhere we went. The free beverage package was a bit unusual. The beverages on us package included only mixed drinks such as rum and coke or long island iced tea, not frozen drinks or for example a white russian, but did not include the gratuity on the drink of 15%. So, an average drink or wine would cost 70c or as much as $1.50. Water by the bottle would cost 20 to 30 cents each. It is a strange way of doing things but is ultimately fairer than NCL's gratuity charges on their package which ends up costing $20 per person per day even if you do not drink. Also, it did include some non specialty brewed coffees which were delicious and available in every bar on the ship. Ports and shore excursions were not evaluated.
