As I write this, I'm sitting in the 12th deck restaurant that has 24-hour coffee service, concerning which I'll say more later. This is my 11th cruise in 25 years. Compared to other ships I've been on, I'd rate the ship itself and the hotel department excellent. A recent refit really shows. The crew could not be more cheerful or helpful.
The food on Majesty is mediocre at best when compared to other ships. The dinner menus are uninspiring and similar from one night to the next. Presentation shows a lack of imagination. I had duck a l'orange on the formal night and found it to be dry and tasteless. A fellow passenger warned me off of ordering steak. I rate dinners barely acceptable. The lunch/dinner buffet is marginally better, but the menu is decidedly monotonous. I think the food buyer needs a bigger budget. The only high spot In food service is the breakfast buffet, which has all the expectable choices and plenty of them.
One of us attended one of the shows. The theater was commodious. The juggler who performed was entertaining, but his act could use some more variety -- perhaps demonstrations of other skills besides juggling.
We had an ocean view cabin on the 3d deck, roughly midship. Low and midships is, of course, the most stable place on any ship; we had smooth seas the whole cruise and so no occasion to develop sea legs. The cabin was small, and one of us had trouble getting in and out of the bed in its king-size configuration. The shower stall was very narrow, but it was possible to take a shower. A couple of maintenance issues were promptly taken care of. But we got what we expected for an astonishingly low price, and that's why we rated our cabin 5 out of 5.
We were in Nassau on a Sunday, so only the tourist shops were open. Luckily, they were all we wanted to see.
Much of a piece with every other tour we've taken while cruising. You ride around, your guide explains what you're seeing, and you get out and walk around. Naturally there are opportunities to spend money.
