I have sailed with Holland America, Carnival and Norwegian. So far Norwegian offers the best perks (e.g. freebies if you book ocean view or higher), a really nice ship and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. There were lots of restaurants and lots of things to do during at sea days on board the Getaway. There were a few places on the ship designated "Adults Only" which is sometimes nice for those of us not bringing kids on board. There was definitely something for every age group going on though. As far as excursions, there was a good variety and we had flexibility in that we didn't have to plan every minute of our itinerary ahead of time. We could decide on the fly what excursions we wanted and there was always availability. The cabin was very nice - of course they are all small, but this one had a couch and a small coffee maker so we didn't have to trudge up to the buffet first thing in search of coffee so we could enjoy it on our balcony. See my other comments specific to the cabin later in this review. The buffet was quite extensive. I will admit that I was a little disappointed with some of the "fine dining" in that it was hard to get reservations, and the portions were very small or of average quality. But other than that, it was a really good cruise and I will definitely sail with Norwegian again.

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BC

The cabin was very modern - If you were in the room and wanted to have lights on, you had to have your key card in a receptacle by the door. There was a big step up into the bathroom which was fine for us but might be inconvenient for others. The closets were a little hard to get to as they were close to the bed, but everything worked out great. It was a comfortable place to stay for a week for sure!

Port Reviews

Harvest Caye

We did a quick tour of the bay in a Ponga and then took a larger boat to the main land. It was good and we got to see a little bit of local culture. The only thing we didn't like was that much of the main land tour was a bit of a sales pitch for the local vendors and wares.
