ARRIVAL: Spent the night before in Ft. Lauderdale and stayed at the Hotel Morrison in Dania Beach. Modern, clean, great value and close to Port Everglades. Ate at the Portly Pig which was a local fun establishment with great portabella sandwiches and craft beers. Took a Lyft to the port Sunday morning (far less expensive than taxi or hotel shuttle) and we were on board by 12:00, smooth and fast embarkation.

SHIP: We had sailed several times on Oasis, so used to this class of ship. Impressive, beautiful, we always enjoy the art and this one didn't disappoint. Very impressed with many of the large art installations and found the buddah and shiva statues in Silk impressive. Lots of attention to detail. Bionic Bar was a lot of fun to watch. Crowded the first day but after that so manageable. Elevators busy only after a large show and they were very fast. Kept the ship spotless. Not big drinkers and after getting one drink at the pool for $14.95 I took advantage of the mimosa $2.00 sale at the casino during sailing days. Also they gave free mimosas on the last day while waiting for breakfast in the dining room. We got the zoom streaming which was great. We did have one day where the reception was iffy and my husband contacted them and they gave us a refund.

DINING: We are vegetarians (ovo/pescatarians eat fish and eggs) so we did not do any of the specialty dining because there was not a lot for us to eat in a Chops for example. We ate most of our breakfast in the Solarium Bistro which I love. It is quiet, healthy fare and not too many people. We ate lunch there often and also this trip tried it for dinner. At breakfast ask for lox, they keep it in the kitchen. Dinner there is romantic, quiet and they have a huge assortment of appetizers such as mussels, ceviche and calimari. The menu trends towards Meditteranean. Dinner in the dining room was fun and the food was fine. Not spectacular but the service more than made up for it. We did Any Time Dining and always asked to share a table and me interesting people. Tried the Windjammer for two lunches the days we were in port and stayed on ship. Like the international flavor and felt the options were extensive and good.

Ocean View Balcony

Cabin 5D

Beautifully appointed, tons of storage! Took us a bit to figure out that the sea pass card is the ticket to the lights coming on (it had been a few years since we sailed), but thoroughly enjoyed the space. Only complaints would be the need for more outlets. One is needed in the bathroom and on both sides of the bed. I was a bit disappointed in the fact that there were no movies available in the room as we have had on past cruises. Beds were very comfortable, ours was closest to the balcony which allowed you to lie in bed and gaze outside. Nice cheese and chocolate trays from R.C. Manu was our steward and he was superb, quickly learned our habits.

Port Reviews

Labadee

Labadee had been a lot more developed than the last time we had been there. As vegetarians the hot dogs and hamburger picnic on the beach doesn't hold much sway with us, so back to the ship. Beautiful island though.
