As a background, we have taken numerous Viking River and sea cruises. This cruise had been not to Viking standards. Very disappointed and would not recommend. One takes Viking for convenience of travel, to see destination and not just to stay on the ship for the duration of the trip. The itinerary for this trip from Bali to Sydney was poorly thought through and poorly organized. The trip was essentially a stay on the ship for the duration of the cruise. The shore excursions were a total disaster. Staff was not knowledgeable and unable to help much. It takes a long flight to get to Bali and Sydney from US. To take long flights just to stay on the ship is not the objective. The Komodo National park excursion was a total disaster. One can see Komodo Dragons in a bird sanctuary in Ubud. The shore excursions are very expensive. One can book the same excursion on line for substantially less. We have done this extensively as well as several fellow passengers.
