Every year a small group of us do a reunion around Thanksgiving time, usually on Carnival out of Port Canaveral which is the closest to my home (75 miles) I am Diamond status on Carnival with 49 cruises with them and 135 lifetime on all lines.Check in for luggage and Citizenship and sign and sail went quickly. the parking garage was less the 400 feet from the pier.. weather was perfect. no rough seas. all three of us elderly gentlemen , ages 85, 71 and 67 walk with canes. and had no problems with hallway obstructions. I was offered the use of wheelchair service to board and debark and was very happy with the offer. also, to go ashore in one port I had to borrow a wheelchair which one of my friends pushed for me and only had to give a $50 refundable deposit for its use and safe return. the local tender folks in Belize were also very helpful with the wheelchair as well. The dinners were all excellent, especially the night in Fahrenheit 555 steakhouse. The Chocolate buffet on the last day at sea was plentiful and tasty.. we did not go to the repeater parties. we did not buy any shore excursions. we didn't partake of any of the entertainment options as we felt they were too amplified for our taste and, honestly, we've all been "over-entertained" having grown up in NYC and Los Angeles.. Carnival corp has obviously made a deal with their cable company as there was only the Turner Networks package of tv shows and news on the in room tv. the selection of free movies was ok. they repeated the same 6 or 7 all week in rotation. the wi-fi package was only $119 for a whole week and one of us purchased it due to health issues and staying in touch with their concerned family. it worked well 98% of the time but response times on the in-house computer screens was notoriously slow like in the old 64K Dial up days.
