We went on a birthday celebration cruise in the Caribbean first time Cruise in December. We usually go to Hawaii early December, but wanted a new adventure.
The Silhouette is less than 10 years old but needed a repair or 2 during 9-night Cruise. One day we had a note in our cabin that water to some staterooms would be off for 2 hours in the afternoon for repairs. Another time, the crew was welding outside by a stairway leading up from 14 to 15. Noise was offensive in that area close to the pool.
The pool facilities are way too small to accommodate a full passenger cruise. If you do not miss breakfast in the dining room in order to save a desired chair at the pool, forget about it. Hated to get up early and sit in Serenity pool area just to get a preferred lounger by a window. Four out of nine days were at sea and that’s when then chair squaters were out.
I would never have chosen a rear facing balcony if I had been told about possibly getting soot on my clothes from smoke stack soot on the rear balconies. Ruined a pair of white Chico shorts. The cabin steward would clean it up every morning, but on sea days and early am make sure to take pool towels to your room for balcony lounges. I wore their white bathrobe quite often on the balcony and didn’t care it had black soot stains on the back because they should have been black bathrobes for rear facing cabins.
Rented a cabana at Royal Palm Beach for the day right on the beach. Swam and ate and enjoyed the beach.
Did our own tour of the town and shopped and took photos.
