We had the pleasure of taking a Viking Rhine Getaway from July 29 through August 8 of this year (Booking #4953028). As much as we enjoyed the experience, we feel that it is important to make you aware of some of the unpleasant events that occurred during our time with Viking.

• When we arrived at our first destination (Edinburgh), we were shuttled from the airport to the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, arriving at approximately noon. We were meet by one of your employees. Silva, and told that our room was not ready and given a map with suggestions where we might get lunch and for sight-seeing. We did as she suggested in the pouring down rain. We returned to the hotel at 3:00, which was the time given for our room to be ready. We were drenched and tired from traveling all night and the room was not prepared. This is understandable, but we were not given an alternative as to where we might sit until the room was ready. Finally, we were told we could sit in the breakfast room to wait. We were never notified when our room was ready and finally had to go and check. Our suggestion would be that when you have 30 people who have travelled a long period of time and; in this case, are drenched, it would be nice to have a place for them to stay and relax with possibly something to drink.

• When we arrived in Amsterdam, we were offered a walking tour of the city while the ship was being prepared for our cruise. This was a wonderful gesture and we enjoyed it. Just a comment that the gentlemen that narrated our tour was not nearly as good as any of the others we had on the trip. He got off-track a number of times and stopped to “tell-off” a biker. Read more
