First, I write this as a guy in my early 40s travelling with my partner and no kids. That should give you an idea of my perspective.

We found this cruise through a Carnival promotion and we couldn't pass this up at the price. We didn't get to choose the cabin but we were given 5114, a balcony room closer to the front of the ship. The room was clean and well-presented, no complaints here.

My first cruise ever was on Legend last year and it felt like visiting an old friend this time 'round. Some of the Fun Ship upgrades had been put in like Alchemy, Blue Iguana and Guy's Burger Joint but there was no Fat Jimmy's C-Side as there is on Spirit.

Extended Balcony

Cabin 8J

Our cabin was clean and well maintained. Our room steward was excellent; he was always friendly and happy to assist in getting a powerboard. For those who use CPAP, be aware the powerboard is a bit of stretch. I had to leave the CPAP on the couch adjacent to the bed and use the bag "yoga mat" to place over the power cord. I believe there are 120v outlets near the bedside lights but as I didn't bother to bring an adapter, I didn't bother looking for those. Maybe bring a US-AUS power adapter or ring up Carnival beforehand to see what the best option is. I'm sure there's infromation here in the forums.

Port Reviews

Isle of Pines (New Caledonia)

Great weather this day but there are a few mangy dogs roaming around and beer prices at the little resort are extorbitant.

Noumea

Nouméa is expensive with a decent lunch and drinks costing over $124 AUD. Number One beer is pretty nice though. We paid over $60 for sunscreen and throat lozenges at a pharmacy across the road from tourist terminal.

Sydney (Australia)

Circular Quay is easy to get to with a train station close by.
