Sail Date: Jun 2018

We had been on Viking River Cruises and rated those highly. The late June sail date allowed us to experience the midnight sun which is a "have to be there to appreciate it" moment. The Viking Star was every bit as good as a Viking River cruise and perhaps better. The ship size could be configured to hold twice as many passengers, but Viking decision to not cram in more beds, made the ship feel more spacious and never crowded. Food was excellent in the cafeterias and even better in the specialty restaurants of which there was a nice variety. One sous-chef told us he move to Viking from another cruise line because Viking uses fresh, not frozen food. Entertainment was first rate. The service team was friendly, appeared sincere and accommodating. The champagne reception as we re-boarded the ship in Hönningsvag was a pleasant surprise. The celebration to commommorate crossing the Arctic Circle is a fun event you don't want to miss. Edinburgh presented us with more tours we wanted to go don than time allowed, so choose wisely.

Cabin Review

Cabin had ample storage space. Nice restroom. Standard cabin will put you lower on the excursion priority list so you may find some first choices booked. Go to customer service once you are on the ship and in most cases you'll get what you wanted.
