We sailed on the Norwegian Jade in early December. We chose this cruise because of the Southern Caribbean itinerary and that it was 10 days (and the price was right!). Ports of call included San Juan, St Thomas, St Kitts, Barbados, St Lucia and St Maarten. We had not sailed with Norwegian before and thought we'd give it a try. From the start, we were underwhelmed. Cabin attendant was efficient but it was 4 days before she introduced herself to us. She never even left a note in the cabin introducing herself. Dinner the first evening - food was luke warm at best and service was extremely slow (over 2 1/2 hours for dinner). Main dining room dinners continued with slow/inefficient service throughout the cruise. Most nights we only had a waiter, no assistant waiters or someone handling bread and water making the service drag on. NCL (maybe other lines since it's been a whole year since our last cruise) dropped crab, lobster, and tenderloin from their main dining room menu - cost cutting? Desserts were so so. Most nights I passed on them. Our balcony stateroom 9102 (midship deck 9) was smaller than we have experienced on Carnival, RCL, Princess and Celebrity. The balcony had two small chairs and a small table. No recliner. The room was small with a loveseat rather than a full couch though it had a decent amount of storage space. The bathroom receives mixed reviews. I loved the size of the shower. You could actually turn around in it and it had good water pressure. The toilet was a different story. I'm not a big guy (5'10" and 180 lbs) and I had a hard time. You have to drop trou and back into this tiny partitioned area of the bathroom where the toilet was jammed. This little 'room' had a sliding door on it. I was afraid to close in in fear of getting stuck in there and not being able to stand up, or get my pants up! I opted not to buy a beverage package. It was ridiculously over priced compared to all other cruise lines! I did buy the unlimited internet package because I do need to stay in touch with my mom's care facility. Despite having this overpriced internet service, Norwegian would have charged me an additional fee to use their onboard app to communicate with other people that didn't have the internet package. Generally felt nickel and dimed by Norwegian. The entertainment was average to slightly above average. The cruise director's staff was small but excellent. They had fun activities, they were energetic, engaged with guests, were highly visible and accessible onboard. Katerina and Lizana were the best part of the entire cruise!! Overall, we were underwhelmed with Norwegian. There is nothing about the total experience that will bring me back to sail with Norwegian again.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

As I mentioned in my review, I was not impressed. Smaller than average balcony cabin. Hated the toilet!! Shower was nice and roomy - for a cruise ship. Decent amount of storage. Walls were a bit thin and could hear our neighbors a bit.

Port Reviews

Barbados

Went to Carlisle beach near town. Nice beach. Nice amenities and bar

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Just wandered around the shops in the port. Didn't opt for a tour. Been here a few times before. Enjoyed the afternoon on the ship relaxing.

St. Maarten

We were happy to see so much reconstruction completed after hurricane Irma last year. Still more work to be done tho. Went to Maho Beach and Sunset Bar to watch the planes land. Then spent some time shopping on Front Street in Philipsburg. Enjoyable day.
