My family had a great time yet my wife and I have taken 7 Princess cruises and a total of 31 cruises. My general assessment is that Princess has bee Carnivalized. Everything about the ship, the service and the food demonstrates cutting corners at the expense of not just the passengers, but the staff as well. We had a mini suite serviced by an overworked housekeeper. On Celebrity, for the same cabin, you have a housekeeper and a butler, fresh fruit in your room and canapes in the afternoon. You also eat in a special restaurant and drink premium booze is a seperate lounge. Not the case on Princess. The cabin was tired; the sofa was dirty, cushions did not stay in place, surfaces of counters and furnitures were marred and chipped, the bathroom floor had dirt that could not be cleaned, the balcony was dirty, the sliding glass doors were always dirty. The food was mediocre at best, except for the Crown Grill where we had a great dinner. The public spaces were always far to noisy. It's great to have a good time, but you can barely hear anyone when talking to them. The bars were quite nice and the service was very good. I was amazed that the Crooner's bar ran out of peanuts and some of the booze. Shouldn't that be better planned? The fitness center decent and my wife had 2 good massages.
This was my last Princess cruise.

The nice thing about San Pedro is that the USS Iowa is docked next to the Ship and it is a museum that you can visit before or after the cruise
The best fresh shrimp you can find.
