We chose the Equinox rather late as we decided just before Thanksgiving that we wanted to be on a ship for the New year. Upon looking at available cruises, the Equinox came up as most affordable option of remaining balcony options. We did get the Aqua class and as such got to dine each evening in Blu. The food and service were five star here and we arrived each night at our leisure and got table for 2. Menu in main dining appeared to be a step above RCL, admittedly our favorite cruise line.I neglected to mention that in the Aqua class room you get daily appetizers and fresh tea. You also get access to parts of spa (Relaxation room, steam room, and sauna).

Casino was small and disappointing in that the minimums were high for a cruise. Craps min bet was $15 and while they had a single $5 BJ table that was always full, you could always find a seat at $15 and up table. Casino manager never changed these mins the entire cruise. They did have a Texas hold em Poker table that was open sporadically.

Entertainment was average at best. They had 3 main production shows that were performed by same group with same stars. Celebrity productions were not Broadway like RCL Oasis class. Enough said. in between shows they would have a one man/woman show that was a magician/comedian or singer/comedian. I did enjoy the Steve Parry. PGA speech about his road to the british open and his chipping demo on the lawn.

Cabin Review

AquaClass 1

Cabin A1

Cabin was typical ship balcony room with double wide hanging storage with shelf at top. Other storage was 4 drawers under TV and 2 doors above bed. Balcony was wide enough for 2 chairs with ottomans and a nice sized table. Extensive breakfast could be ordered to room by placing your order on door at night, Each day we received fresh te and a plate of appetizers. Each room has a small frig, safe, hair dryer, and even a cheap set of binoculars. To make your room better, I would pack a small power outlet to permit at least 2 power devices to be plugged in as well as USB and small magnetic hooks for things like clothes, belts, hats, etc.

Port Reviews

Key West

Good port to walk around and get a t-shirt or cap. Best time to experience Key West is at Sunset as street performers hit the street. Ship sailed far before that though.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Shopped and returned to ship. Free food and drinks aboard.

Costa Maya

If you can venture thru the shopping there is a large free pool with nice free beach chairs and they do provide bar service for a cost
