Sail Date: Dec 2018

We were limited on dates that we could go on a cruise so chose the Malaysian Peninsular.

Some of the ports were really disappointing, particularly Phuket.

Our cabin was dated and needed refurbishing, the carpet was very worn. Typical Princess layout in the atrium. The staff and service was excellent and no complaints with the buffet food in the Horizon although many passengers did not wash their hands as they should when entering. We were around the pool every day trying to find a lounger that offered shade, it would be good if they could provide more shade. People still reserve loungers for hours even though they are requested not to. To save washing and continual re stocking of pool towels, passengers should be asked to take just one towel instead of 2-4 each.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Needs refurbishing, very dated compared to the newer ships.

Port Reviews

Kelang (Kuala Lumpur)

Went on the Hop on Hop off bus in Penang. No commentary throughout the circuit. Really disappointing not to know any information about the wonderful buildings that we passed.

Phuket

was hoping to find transport from the locals to take you somewhere. There was nothing to do or see, stayed 20 minutes then went back to the ship. Really disappointing.

Langkawi

Hired a taxi and went to a beautiful beach and a drive around some of the island.

We enjoyed Langkawi.

We ate mostly in the Horizon and found the food very good, the selection changed daily. We also dined at Vivaldi and Paper Moon, shared the table with others. There's always a bit of pressure to order quickly in these restaurants which I can understand but when you sit down with strangers it takes a few minutes for introductions etc. before you have the time to look at the menu. We enjoyed the lecture on Darwin and the very last evening show based on crew talent, it was excellent.
