Wanted to see Jakarta, Bali & especially Komodo Island! Fabulous - then found the south-west of Australia was fascinating too!! Our cruise was the first ship allowed to dock overnight in Geraldton, West Australia - the Council and Tourism people put on an amazing evening of food, wine, local animals to have pics taken with, a didgeridoo player, a local artist, info about pearl farming and jewellery making - we had the BEST time!!!

Also loved the art classes on board - we are studying watercolour painting and the Welsh artist, Chris Tatam was so informative, his classes grew bigger each time - people got there early and left later as they all enjoyed it so much!!! Please bring them back more often!!!

Some people were upset that stops in Broome and Exmouth were cancelled, but Busselton & Bunbury were very interesting and made up for it! Stopping at Geraldton meant we could take the tour out to Kalbarri National Park - wonderful!!!!! Shore Excursions seem quite expensive, compared to what the locals can offer, but of course no-one wants to get back to the ship late and have it go without them!!!!

Port Reviews

Geraldton

Booked with Eco South West Discoveries (through Tourist Info at port) and had 2 Aussie brothers drive us around the Cape Naturaliste/Margaret River area - fabulous!!!!!

Komodo Island

End of the dry season so dragons all clustered around dry waterhole but saw about 5 of them and one walked a short way - the others lay around in the heat!

Busselton

Lovely town & fabulous jetty - longest wooden one in the world!! Tourist Info lady told us about Eco South West Discoveries so for the first time, we took a tour not booked on ship! Fabulous drive with two brothers around Cape Naturaliste and Margaret River wine area - saw dolphins, eagle nests, large kangaroos, had beautiful snax, wine and scenery!!!

Perth (Fremantle)

Lovely city - went to Shipwrecks Museum and spent hours there!!!!!!!!! Beautiful dock area with tons of restaurants and free buses - the Blue and Red Cats!!! Again fabulous!!!
