We a RCCL cruise as a gift from a local casino and chose Vision out of NOLA since it's a drivable distance. Embarkation was quick and easy and we only had to wait about 30 minutes before cabin was ready. We enjoy the smaller ships so immediate liked Vision and the layout of the ship.

The ship had recently been refreshed with new carpets, wall coverings, deck loungers, etc. We had what appeared to be new mattresses which were very nice. The safe also looked new and was very easy to set up with a 4 digit code rather than swiping a card.

The Windjammer buffet was set-up with salads, fruit and hot food choices on two lines, one on each side of kitchen area which meant lines moved quickly and we rarely had to wait. Another area before getting to tables was set up with sandwiches and taco making for lunch and dinner and omelets or freshly prepared eggs for breakfast. Across from it was another area that had pancakes, waffles, etc at breakfast and at lunch and dinner hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, etc. Everything was kept at proper temps. In the center of dining area, there were desserts for lunch and dinner and pastries and cereals for breakfast.

Cabin Review

Ocean View

Cabin 2N

Our cabin was near the stairs adjacent to the Centrum area. It was very convenient to elevators and the most popular areas of the ship. The only time we had any noise issues in the cabin was during sailaway when the music was really loud. We were initially concerned, but we didn't have any disturbance after that.

The cabin is nice but a little smaller than oceanview cabins on newer ships. It did have a love seat and a large window. This was a cabin for two with no pullmans. There was a lot of closet space since 2/3 of closet had double closet rods. We had more than enough closet space even after storing one large suitcase in the corner of closet since it wouldn't fit under bed.

The can it area was well lit and provided a large mirror and two mirrored storage areas great for cosmetics, medicines, etc. There were 3 large drawers and 3 smaller drawers in vanity base and no fridge anywhere. There was a nice flat screen TV and a cabinet above it with safe and two shelves. There was plenty of storage

The bathroom was adequate although shower area is very small. It is almost triangular and is very cramped with shower curtain closed. However the storage area next to sink was very adequate with 4 cubbies and 1 drawer.

Service was provided twice daily and we were very satisfied with our room steward, Rolex

Port Reviews

New Orleans

We parked at the port after dropping off bags with porter. The parking lot is secured 24 hrs a day and was $20 per day which included any taxes. Parking was easy and there was a shuttle that took us to the terminal side of the lot but not to terminal. From the drop off point it was about 100 yards or less to the terminal entrance but you do cross railroad tracks so a little difficult if taking roller bags or use a rollator. Look for a porter when returning to take your bags from terminal to your car we took ours without a porter but not easy getting across the RR tracks.

Miami

We took the free Miami hop on hop off trolley from just next to terminal into downtown. We stayed onboard until we got to Coral Gables where we enjoyed the Coral Gables museum, walked around a little and had a lively lunch outside on the promenade where there are many restaurants to choose from. After a leisurely lunch, we got back on and went back to ship. This bus has a stop both going and coming back at Seaside Mall which is a nice area with shops and restaurants. We visited it on previous cruise so didn't stop this time

Nassau

We had been to Nassau before and explored everything near the port. This time we took a public bus #10 to Baha Mar resort and casino. The bus is about a 20 seat bus and very clean. It was about 20 minute ride for $1.50 each and we were dropped at entrance to the resort. The winding sidewalk went through beautifully landscaped area and alongside a beautiful man made lake#pool with fountains and bridges. It was about 9:30 am so it was a nice walk. The casino is beautiful and we had signed up for player cards online so got a free gift and a free spin. After 100 points I got a tote bag. After some time in casino we walked outside to check out the pools and ocean view. We has been told that only guests could walk around, but we were nicely dressed and looked like guests so didn't get stopped anywhere The pool areas are gorgeous and the resort has several areas for relaxing in loungers plus loungers and umbrellas on their private beach. There were folks checking key cards at entrances to beach but all we did was walk aling the sidewalk to enjoy the views of the beautiful water. When we decided to go back to ship, we got a cab which was about $20 including tip. Nassau has zone pricing now which makes it much easier for tourists to know what the prices should be. We enjoyed our say in Nassau.

Key West

This wasn't our first time in Key West but first trip since the hurricane last year. We walked to Truman Little White house and did the tour. Then we walked to Hemingway House to check it out and passed in a tour. We walked back towards pier along Duval Street taking a look in shops along the way. We were disappointed to not find the Key Lime place on Duval but found their new shop next to Starbucks at Duval and Front. We had enjoyed visiting Kermit's Key Lime Shop (original shop on Greene St) on previous trip and the new one dudb't show up on Google maps so glad we stumbled onto it. It was almost as large as their other shop and we had a wonderful piece if pie It's a fun place to browse to see everything key lime that can be imagined. We then went to Mallory Square and relaxed by the water before heading back to ship. We had a 7 pm sailaway so got to see sunset in Key West before leaving.
